Is J2ME just for games?

Well, mobile games are big business. And it's no surprise that MIDP2.0 contains a lot of game specific functionality. (Sprites,Layers, ...) That's okay since MIDP1.0 without vendor specific APIs wasn't very usefull for games. (And the use of vendor specific apis made the games targeted at specific devices.)
But what's with other applications? (I mean non-games.)
Most of the usefull applications for series 60 are still developed using C++. Well many of the cool apps are not yet possible with J2ME at all. But I think the newer series 60 devices (beginning with the 6600 supporting sockets and server-sockets) offer some potential to java developers. The upcoming phones with PIM and file access apis will be even better for us java guys. But on the other side it's more challenging to write a cool application in J2ME but it is with native symbian. (But I never tried it,actually.)
Don't to forget that in the future even the mid-range phone's will include all those cool apis and will be fast enough to be usefull. Last not least for e.g series 40 there's no choice other than J2ME to develop on.)
I think we should not cry because of the limited functionality in MIDP but we should be more creative in solving the problems we are faced today.
