Is there money in mobile applications?
I start to wonder if there's really money in mobile applications.
We all know there are millions of potential customers. We all know we can build powerful apps with J2ME, native Symbian and so on. We all know that some mobile operators and very few independent content portals make real money with content (content in my eyes are ringtones, music, wallpapers, videos and games, although games are interactive content ...).
But are the users aware that their phones can do some useful stuff with the righ apps installed on it? I don't think so. Maybe some day in the future this will happen but it seems to be too soon now for real mobile applications. There might be some niches (mobile navigation to name one ...) and the day will come when the users realize that there's a powerful computer in the palm of their hands.
