A look at Opera Mini

At first I was somewhat disappointed that Opera Mini isn't yet available outside Norway. (But there's PRC file for the Treo somewhere ...).

Finally now I have this nice midlet on my phone.

Look at this:

It seems my Norwegian is good enough to use it … (I don't speak a word Norwegian but if you're used to using apps on a phone it works ...)

My first impression is that it works better than e.g. Netfront. Thats mostly because a lot of work is done on their proxies and it's only downloaded what's really needed. And I really like this Opera Mini thing because it's Java. I really love to see when java applications become more popular than their native counterparts.

By the way: the user agent showing up in my logs is "Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/1.0.1479/HiFi; mobile phone; no; U; ssr)".

UPDATE: I found out how to change the UI language to English. Choose "Meny" "Verktoy" "Innstillinger", now choose "Sprak" and there choose "English". Now Opera Mini operates in English. That makes using this software a lot easier (for me).
