Mobile software and piracy

I thought that piracy is something that happens to overpriced software. Now I know it better. While I was googling around for one of my MIDlets (for whatever reason) I found a cracked version of it. (And many copies on other sites.) The "readme" say something like this:

MMS Effects v1.1 *Retail*
Release Group ..............: BiNPDA
Version ....................: v1.1
Size .......................: 36 kb
Operating System ...........: SymbianOS7:Java
Releasename ................: BiN-0778.zip
Releasetype ................: Retail
Releasedate ................: 08-20-05
Disks ......................: 1

The thing I don't userstand here is: This thing costs less than 5 EUR. Even if they cracked it in 15 minutes (that could be since it wasn't very well protected) their time must be worth less than 20 EUR / hour. Wow.

I think I have to rethink the way I "protect" my trial-versions / full-versions in the future. (But there will never be a perfect protection. If someone want's to crack it they will crack it. But I think I'll have to make it not too easy for them.)

On the other side it's quite interesting to see that these guys take the time to do those nasty things.

But it's quite sad.
